Position Overview: The Pharmacist will be responsible for dispensing medications, providing medication counseling, and ensuring the safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals. This role involves working closely with patients and healthcare professionals to support optimal health outcomes through accurate medication management and patient education.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Medication Dispensing: Accurately dispense prescription medications and over-the-counter products according to physician orders and regulatory guidelines. Verify the correctness of medications and dosages.
  2. Patient Counseling: Provide clear and accurate information to patients about their medications, including proper usage, potential side effects, and drug interactions. Address any questions or concerns patients may have.
  3. Medication Management: Monitor and manage patient medication therapies, including reviewing patient medication profiles for interactions and contraindications. Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication regimens.
  4. Drug Utilization Review: Conduct medication reviews to ensure appropriateness, effectiveness, and safety of prescribed therapies. Recommend adjustments or alternatives as necessary.
  5. Pharmacy Operations: Ensure compliance with federal and state pharmacy laws and regulations. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and medication inventories.
  6. Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies. Order, receive, and store medications in accordance with established protocols.
  7. Patient Safety: Implement and adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent medication errors and ensure the safe handling of medications. Report and document any adverse drug reactions or incidents.
  8. Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated patient care. Participate in patient care planning and contribute to interdisciplinary team meetings.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: B. Pharm degree from an accredited pharmacy school.
  2. Experience: 3+ years of experience as a pharmacist in a retail, hospital, or clinical setting is required.
  3. Skills:
  4. Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and therapeutic drug management.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient counseling and collaboration with healthcare professionals.
  6. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  7. Proficiency in pharmacy management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
